I'm a writer-author. Through the years, I've written countless magazine articles and have 24 published books so far. But until a while back, my output was limited in one inescapable way: Though I'm reasonably fast on the keyboard, I could never type as fast as I can think or talk.

Dragon Naturally Speaking is available in four different versions: Home, Premium, Professional, and Legal.
For most of us, the Home or Premium version will be best. Other than price, the difference here is that Premium allows you to dictate into a hand-held recorder for later transcription.
Since I use a digital recorder, my own choice is Premium. I can dictate into my Olympus digital recorder—maybe while out sitting by a lake or overlooking the beach—and then later, back in the office, dump those files into my computer and let Dragon pull them up in Word.
Networked offices may want the added features of Professional, and the Legal version is the same as the Professional, with the addition of some specialized tools for the legal community.
These days, in addition to Dragon helping me crank out books faster, it also helps enormously as I write articles for Internet article directories—where quantity of articles is important for generating income.
